13:52 | Lima, Aug. 21.

The meetings between the Executive Power and regional governments (GORE-Executive) helped consolidate 1,917 commitments, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala stressed on Monday.

In this sense, the also Economy Minister requested regional authorities to work towards reaching an "efficient State."

During the inauguration of the 5th GORE-Executive meeting in Lima, Zavala said there are 441 commitments currently "under discussion."

Likewise, the government official congratulated the Agriculture and Health Ministries —as well as Huanuco and Cusco regional governments— for the fulfillment of their commitments.

According to Zavala, one of the Executive Power's objectives —for the second year in office— is to get back to 4% economic growth, boost job creation, public security and citizen services.

He also noted the country's Reconstruction with Changes Plan will lead to an investment of S/23.538 billion (about US$7.25 billion) in four years and the generation of 150,000 direct jobs.

"We have no doubt this GORE is a new opportunity to agree, as well as to discuss commitments and facilitate the transfer of resources," he expressed.

"We will have the opportunity to address budgetary issues, since we must approve the new budget law for 2018 by the end of the month, and submit it to Congress."

In that sense, he requested governors to join efforts aimed at shaping an efficient State, where each level of government assumes responsibilities.

"We are the team chosen by citizens to work for them. It is a responsibility that we assume together," Zavala concluded.
