Peru's national soccer team on Monday kicked off training sessions prior to facing Venezuela and Uruguay on March 23 (Maturin) and March 28 (Lima), respectively.

These matches comprise its last opportunity to secure a place at Russia 2018 World Cup.

Held at the National Sports Village (Videna), training saw the presence of eleven sportsmen, who currently play in the local tournament.

Likewise, fourteen national athletes —hired by foreign clubs— will join said sessions in the course of the week.

After being defeated by Brazil (0-2) in Lima last November, Peruvians are not allowed to make any mistakes in the South American Qualifiers.

Led by the Argentinean coach Ricardo Gareca, the red-white holds the eighth spot from a total of 10. Peru has seen six defeats, four victories and two draws (14 points).
