The Peruvian economy expanded by more than 2 percent in September, while third quarter gross domestic product grew at an annual rate of 1.7 percent, rate similar to that of the second quarter, according to Scotiabank.

Regarding specific sectors, electricity production jumped 5.1 percent, compared with 4.5 percent growth in August.

Likewise, local sales of cement rose by 3.7 after two months of consecutive declines, and public investment increased 9.4 percent, the first positive figure since May.

On the other hand, the country's mining and hydrocarbons sector GDP saw a rebound after five straight months of negative growth, explained, in part, by increased production in some mines and a statistical averaging effect, considering that September growth was slow.

In addition, some improvement in sales was perceived in domestic consumption-oriented businesses.

It should be noted a rebound in economic activity is anticipated in Peru over the coming months as a result of current business expectations.
