Programs, policies, laws and institutions must be fully integrated to seize the opportunities presented by the Pacific Alliance, the Peruvian Chapter of the Pacific Alliance Business Council (CEAP) reported on Friday.

"Only thus can foundation be provided, leading to competitiveness," Chapter Peru President Juan Varilias stated.

The Pacific Alliance is perceived not only as a large, free market where businessmen can make deals, but as an opportunity to convene and develop strategies to become more competitive.

"The Pacific Alliance promotes private sector's proactive role through the Business Council, encouraging governments to improve integration, support economic-trade cooperation, and promote third market-oriented actions, mainly in the Asia-Pacific," he said.

Varilias said the challenge is to supply a wide variety of high-quality agricultural food products throughout the year, as well as to take advantage of the varied animal, vegetable and synthetic fibers to ensure an increase in garment industry export products.

"We should consider adding value to our metals, building a timber industry or boosting the chemical industry, by putting entrepreneurial efforts and talents together," he added.
