Foreign tourists spent US$3.501 billion in Peru in 2016, up by 6.0% over its previous year; the country's Central Reserve Bank (BCR) informed.
The figure spent by visitors accounted for more than half of services exports (55%) from the Andean nation.
Said sector included transportation (21%), communications (1%), insurance and reinsurance (9%), among other services (13%).
It must be noted services exports amounted to US$6.312 billion in 2016. This figure represented an increase of US$76 million from the year before.
