The visa-free entry for Peruvian citizens wishing to visit the EU countries for the purpose of a short-term travel is a great achievement of the outgoing Foreign Affairs Ministry of Peru, said its head Ana Maria Sanchez.
"I'd like to highlight as the major achievement of this administration the agreement signed between Peru and the European Union, under which since March Peruvian citizens can enter Indonesia for short-term visits without the need for a visa," she pointed out.
"This is an important step in favor of Peruvians’ mobility around the world," Sanchez said in a message posted on the Chancellery's YouTube channel.
She went on to note that biometric passports have been implemented following international security standards, and affirmed they will be issued at all consular offices starting July 31.
Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has implemented the automation of consular management and systematization of consular records, procedures and revenues.
She recalled the Chancellery launched a website to provide consular services abroad in December last year, and welcomed the implementation of a system to verify notarial deeds at 30 consulates issuing 90% of such documents, which earned it a nomination to the 2015 Best Practices in Public Management Award.
