Peru's fishery exports will grow 12% in 2017, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) projected.

According to Adex Economic Studies Management Department, growth would be boosted by greater shipments of fish meal.

In this sense, fishery exports would experience a recovery, following two years of negative results (-19% in 2015) and (-7% in 2016), the guild highlighted.

Likewise, traditional fishing and the one for direct human consumption are expected to close the year with increases of 20% and 1.1%, respectively.

In addition, Adex President Juan Varilias projected exports will experience full recovery once "Coastal El Niño" effects have come to an end.

Superfoods Peru

Varilias stressed that the launch of Superfoods Peru–Seafood brand will contribute to the sector's full recovery and growth.

The Peruvian brand was presented at Seafood Expo Global 2017, the world's largest seafood trade fair, which took place in Brussels (Belgium) on April 25-27.

Jan-Feb 2017

Peru's fishery exports totaled US$644.59 million in the January-February 2017 period, up by 92.8% from the same term in 2016.
