As part of her three-day official visit to Peru, Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, visited patients who suffer from cancer at the Young Services of the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN) in Lima, along with Peru's first lady, Nadine Heredia.

While in there, she was provided with information on services available at the healthcare center, and spent her time with young-aged cancer patients.

It should be noted the representative of King Philip of Belgium is the chairwoman of the Belgian Red Cross since 1994, a post previously occupied by her father.

Likewise, she is Honorary President of the Queen Elisabeth Medical Foundation (QEMF) and the European Organization on Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), which is why she became interested in visiting INEN.

On the other hand, Peruvian first lady has been appointed Leader and Social Advocate for Cancer Prevention and Control in the region by Unasur’s Network of National Cancer Institutes.

According to the program of the Belgian Mission to Peru, a very restricted official delegation will meet today with Peru’s Minister of Agriculture, Juan Manuel Benites Ramos. The gathering will be held at 16:30 at the Hilton Lima Miraflores hotel in the capital city.
