Peru’s First Lady, Nadine Heredia, highlighted today the launching of the "Bienvenidos a la Vida" (Welcome to Life) government-designed national plan directed to benefit newborn children in Peru.
The initiative makes a bet on the future, since it aims at taking care of children in state of vulnerability, Mrs. Heredia noted.
At Lima’s Cayetano Heredia hospital, accompanied by Health minister Anibal Velasquez, the First Lady oversaw the benefits the plan will bring to newborn children and their parents.
The pack consists of a variety of actions to protect the child, clothes and accessories for baby care, as well.
The government has “committed strongly” in prenatal and mother care, the First Lady reminded.
But now it “bets big” on protecting the neonate, she added.
“It is a step further in quality of health,” the First Lady expressed.
The same kit will be delivered to most impoverished mothers in the country. It also serves as a baby crib for newborns (up to 4 months).
The beneficiaries will also get a birth certificate, a Comprehensive Health Insurance certificate, which covers the baby up to age 3.
