Despite strong economic deceleration hitting the region due to commodity price drop, Peru is the only Latin American country, which economy expands non-stop, Economy and Finance Minister Alonso Segura stressed.
"Despite the difficult international situation, Peruvian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has not contracted [at any moment], unlike other Latin American countries," he expressed during his participation at the ‘Annual Meeting 2015’ organized by CFA Society Peru.
According to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), Peru's economy managed to expand for 74 consecutive months as at September 2015.
Expectations improve
Business expectations indexes are picking up, having stabilized between September and October, as a Central Reserve Bank (BCR)-conducted survey shows.
"Let's see what happens, it is too early to affirm whether expectations definitely become stabilized or not. In the middle of storm spread across Latin America, an electoral process leads to uncertainty," he noted.
In this sense, Segura urged the national business sector to continue maintaining confidence in Peruvian economy, since it shows recovery signs.
