17:46 | Lima, Oct. 11.

Peru’s Finance Minister Alonso Segura was declared Latin’s America Finance Minister of year according to Emerging Market newspaper, part of Euromoney Institutional Investor plc.

The ceremony was held within the framework of the 2015 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the WBG and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held in Lima.

This is second recognition by Emerging Markets to a senior official of the current administration, which represents the approval of the economic policy management despite the unfavorable international economic situation.

"[…] it is a recognition to the economic policy implemented by the Government; it is not a coincidence that both Finance Ministers [of the current administration] have received this prize," the head of the Finance Ministry told.

After assuming office at Peru’s Ministry of Economy and Finance in September 2014, Segura was able to maintain the Peruvian credibility on international markets.

While other Latin American countries have opted to reduce the fiscal expenditure -within the complicated international economic situation- Emerging Markets pointed out Peru has responsibly implemented countercyclical measures, which are aimed at boosting economic growth.

Emerging Markets recognizes those leaders in charge of economic policies.

Thus, Peru’s macroeconomic seriousness and consistency are recognized. The policies will remain over time, Segura said.

"In the last 25 years, Peru has been implementing serious policies that led to a significant increase in the well-being of the population [...]," the Finance Minister informed.

Segura informed that "we are facing more complex times; however, we remain an economy that has displayed a remarkable performance in the region and Peru will therefore continue on this path towards the future."

At the same time, he assured Peru looks forward with optimism to the future, while the current government keeps working to build  a better country.
