Peru's GDP currently expands above 4% and goes through an economic acceleration stage underpinned by primary and non-primary sectors, Finance Minister Alonso Segura reported on Monday.
"If we analyze economic growth experienced over the last 12 months, non-primary sectors, such as construction, trade, among others, grow 3.6% [...]," Segura told RPP radio and TV station.
"We witness economic growth fundamentals continue expanding, although we would clearly want this to become stronger. The result comes amid recession hitting Latin America for the second consecutive year [...]," he stressed.
It must be noted the national economy reached a progress of almost 4.9% last May, marking a 4.41% expansion over the last 12 months.
Between January and May, accumulated economic expansion stood above 4%, Segura reminded.
"Peruvian economy is accelerating around 4%, which nearly doubles growth-rates registered by our Pacific Alliance's partner countries [...]. Our projection for 2016 remains at 3.8% […]," the official affirmed.
According to Segura, the current administration was able to manage the major economic shock hitting the region.
This way, actions contributed to re-boosting the economy.
