Peru's farming production expanded by over 3% as at April 2016, Deputy Minister for Development, Agricultural Infrastructure and Irrigation Jorge Montenegro reported.
Growth was underpinned by both livestock and agriculture sub-sectors activity.
"This represents a good opportunity to continue working and developing certain elements that will enable national agriculture to stop being the country's least-important economic engine and instead become one of the leading engines," Montenegro explained.
Moreover, the official highlighted efforts undertaken by the portfolio to boost blueberry production, mango and asparagus entry to the U.S, as well as avocado exports to China and Japan.
It must be noted the national agriculture sub-sector has displayed a positive performance over recent years.
