Peru plans to concretize deals worth over US$135 million at "Fruit Logistica Fair 2016" held in Berlin (Germany), Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva informed.

"This participation marks the beginning of the promotion campaign for agro-exports in Europe in 2016," she affirmed.

Actions comprise the positioning strategy developed by the Peruvian Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry, she noted.

National entrepreneurs exhibit and promote natural goods, such as asparagus, grapes, avocados, citrus fruits, mangoes, organic bananas, pomegranates, berries and aguaymantos, which rely on high quality and production standards demanded by the international market.

The fair saw the participation of over 300 attendees, among exporters, speakers, logistics operators, producers and suppliers.

Important information on agricultural regions Ica, Piura, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Huanuco, Junin, Tacna, Ancash, Apurimac and Cajamarca was spread at the event.

Peru’s flagship products pisco, cocoa, coffee and domestic wines were tasted by thousands of attendees at Peru Mucho Gusto's stand.

It must be noted the Peruvian business mission relied on technical assistance provided by trade-advisors appointed to Peru's Europe-based Trade Offices (Ocex), Embassy officials, as well as members of the Peruvian Agricultural Guilds Association (AGAP), Peru's Exporters Guild (ADEX) and the Peruvian-German Chamber of Commerce.

Sectoral Strategy

"Thanks to efforts by the private sector and Peruvian Government, Peru is becoming a high-quality food supplier. Thus, we —along with the Agriculture Ministry, Senasa and the business sector— have been consolidating measures aimed to position horticultural products on new markets," the official expressed.

It must be noted Senasa means the National Service for Agricultural Sanitation.

In 2016, products will be promoted in the United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium, Portugal, Bulgaria, Turkey, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Russia, among others, Silva announced.
