Expo Amazonica 2017 shot up exotic fruits demand from domestic and foreign buyers, Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) Manager Luis Torres affirmed.

The event took place simultaneously in Tarapoto and Moyobamba cities (both in San Martin region) on August 10-13.

In this sense, the fair served as platform to promote and position the area's exotic products in international markets.

Sacha inchi (a.k.a. Inca peanut), passion fruit and golden pineapple were some of the products which stood out on the occasion.

Expo Amazonica's positive results were partly due to articulated efforts undertaken by technical assistance organizations and promotion activities carried out by the Executive Power.

The measures taken will lead to sustained demand since businesspeople will continue to attend the fair in the coming years.

Moyobamba

Moyobamba city was also chosen as headquarter of Expo Amazonica 2017, as it hosts the most emblematic products of the region: coffee and cacao.

A strategy was developed for buyers to visit Moyobamba and Tarapoto, thus taking advantage of both regions' strengths.

A group of 110 Amazon exporters showcased their products to nearly 40 foreign buyers from 15 different countries.

It must be noted special coffee varieties and cacao have an increasing presence in the international scene.
