The 26 tourism-oriented companies that took part in the World Travel Market (WTM) 2016 last November in London expect sales worth US$16 million, the country's trade and tourism promotion agency (PromPeru) reported on Thursday.

The WTM is deemed as one of the most important fairs in the tourism industry, where Peru had the chance to showcase its top tourist attractions to British and international markets.

It also served to make business and encourage travel industry professionals and journalists to visit several Peruvian destinations.

A stand was strategically set up right in front of the main hallway, which contained promotional material and showcased Peruvian wonders to attendees through a virtual reality platform.

The key element in the promotion of the Inca country at the event was gastronomy, with tastings of Peruvian dishes like cebiche, tiradito, without leaving aside drinks like pisco.

Moreover, the Peruvian delegation gave a presentation on Kuelap before 80 travel professionals during the Adventure Connect seminar held by Adventure Travel Trade Association — ATTA, to which PromPeru belongs.

More than 10,000 visitors are expected to arrive in Peru next year thanks to promotional activities held within the framework of the World Travel Market.

It is worth saying more than 50,000 travel industry professionals, 5,000 exhibitors from 182 countries, and 3,000 media outlets take part in the WTM each year.
