The Energy and Mines Ministry announced 49 rural electrification projects are currently aimed at benefiting 80 districts belonging to areas affected by severe cold weather, such as frosts.

The works comprised in the 2015 Multisectoral Plan boosted by the current administration.

The measure comprises 49 focalized projects. Of that amount, 14 are already concluded; other 4 currently under execution, whereas the remaining will soon be initiated, the Energy and Mines Ministry’s Rural Electrification Department (DGER) announced.

Investment

Those will demand a budget worth over S/.43 million (about US$13.52 million) for the current year and over S/.48 million (about US$15.09 million) for 2016.

The concluded works were executed in the following regions: Puno (4), Ucayali (2), Ayacucho (2), Arequipa, Huancavelica, Junin, Cusco, Pasco and Piura.

On the other hand, “Rural Electrification System (SER) Pomata Fifth Stage”, "the SER Puno Third Stage” and the “SER San Gaban Second Stage”, as well as the Ancash-based “SER Jimbe-Pamparonas Fourth Stage” are currently under execution.

31 for the current year

The 31 projects -to be executed this year- are located in eight focalized districts belonging to following regions: Puno (8), Huancavelica (3), Amazonas, Ancash, Cusco (3), Pasco, Apurimac (4), Ayacucho (4), Tacna, Huanuco (3) and Cajamarca (2).

“Thanks to electricity, the rural inhabitants will be better connected and informed through radio, TV and internet and be able to face the inclement weather,” it pointed out.
