Peru's accumulated electric energy production for the first ten months of the year reached 42,867 GWh (gigawatt hours), a 7.7% increase over the same month in 2015, the Energy and Mines Ministry reported today.
Regarding October’s results, electric output stood at 4,367 GWh, a 5% rise when compared to the same month last year.
Electric utility companies contributed 96.3% of October’s total national output with 4,207 GWh, whereas self-use generation plants accounted for 160 GWh.
Likewise, thermal power stations posted a 2,175 GWh production (5.6% less than in Oct 2015), hydroelectric power plants recorded 2,068 GWh (16.7% increase over Oct 2015) and solar and wind renewable energy plants contributed 124 GWh (51.8% increase over Oct 2015).
Oh the other hand, State-run electric utilities generated 20.2% of total output, whereas multinationals Enel, Engie and IC Power Peru contributed 16.6%, 15.9% y 10.1%, respectively.
