The education sector budget for 2016 amounts to S/.24.80 billion (about US$7.40 billion), a S/.2.40 billion (about US$716 million) increase compared to the previous term, Education Minister Jaime Saavedra affirmed.
Saavedra went on to add the government’s commitment is to "give priority" to education, a social inclusion component.
The sector budget increased by almost 90% in the period comprised between 2011 and 2016.
"Concerning the education portfolio, we hope to have executed 97% of its budget by December, which means 26% more than last year," he added.
