13:59 | Lima, Nov. 19.

The Peruvian soccer team finished 2014 with a 2-1 victory against Paraguay at Lima’s National Stadium.

Peru has won 5 matches and lost 4 out of 9 games.

Paraguay dominated the first half of the game with good rhythm and speed. Quite the contrary, the locals seemed to lack of ideas to reach the goal area guarded by Justo Villar.

The Paraguayan team came to consolidate its possession when the experienced forward Roque Santa Cruz scored the first goal.

The second half started as a resemblance of the first half. However, Peru began playing with better projections.

Carlos Ascues entering the field was of vital importance. By the 72nd minute he made a shot the Paraguayan goalkeeper couldn't block.

The national team counter-attacked in order to achieve its objective. In the 80th minute, Ascues came back as a "forward" to shot and proclaim the positive 2-1 result.

This is how Peru faced the rematch, after the friendly match held last Friday in which the Paraguayan team obtained a 2-1 victory in Luque.
