The Ministry of Production (Produce) has created a technological innovation center for fishing development (Cite Pesquero) as part of the productive diversification process launched by the government throughout the country.

The center will support technology transfer, training and technical assistance initiatives aimed at companies and actors involved in the productive chain of industrial and artisanal fisheries and in favor of aquiculture development as well, said the Production Minister Piero Ghezzi.

"Cite Pesquero is intended to increase the competitiveness, innovation capacity and productive development of participants of this productive chain, thus generating greater value for the transformation of hydrobiological resources," Ghezzi added.

As a result of the support provided by Cite Pesquero, supply, productivity and quality of hydrobiological products will be improved to conquer both the domestic market and new market niches abroad.

A main objective is to bring together research and improvement that companies require to universities, research centers, Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and cooperation sources – both national and international.

"This joint is essential to move forward," he revealed.
