Peru’s copper production increased 43.9% in June compared to the same period last year, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) stated.
Copper production grew in the following Peruvian regions: Arequipa (179.6%), Ancash (14.9%) and Cusco (6.9%). Together, they account for 55.2% of total national production.
It must be noted Apurimac is the third-largest copper producing region, accounting for 16.3% of the total.
In this sense, Ayacucho (120.9%), Puno (80.7%), Huanuco (61.4%), Ica (27.1%) and Pasco (21.3%) also stood out during the said period.
However, production fell in Huancavelica (-38.2%), Lima (-16.8%), Junin (-12.4%), La Libertad (-11.5%), Cajamarca (-10.9), Tacna (-10.0%) and Moquegua (-9.0%).
