The Peruvian soccer team set to participate in the 2016 Copa America Centennial feels confident following two friendly wins.

The team defeated El Salvador (3-1) on Saturday night thanks to goals scored by Peruvian strikers Raul Ruidiaz (11th minute) and Andy Polo (60th minute), as well as left back Yoshimar Yotun (93rd minute) at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

The team coached by Ricardo Gareca experienced some tactical changes, compared to the lineup for the match against Trinidad and Tobago (4-0) held at Lima's National Stadium last Monday.

Peru, which already won Copa America twice in 1939 and 1975, held the third position in Argentina 2011 and Chile 2015 editions.

To date, Flamengo's forward Paolo Guerrero has scored 10 goals in three editions; 1 in Venezuela (2007); 5 in Argentina (2011); and 4 in Chile (2015). Among players, Guerrero stood out as the only historic survivor from the previous decade.

Group

Peru belongs to Copa America's B Group along with Brazil, Ecuador and Haiti.

It will play Haiti on June 4th in Seattle, Washington State.
