Peru is committed to regional efforts aimed at defending democratic institutionality in Venezuela, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski affirmed on Friday.
In this context, the Head of State underlined the defense of democracy is one of the basic principles contained in the Andean nation's foreign policy.
Likewise, Peru's top official said the Inca nation is focused on solving the humanitarian crisis in the neighboring country.
"We are extending the temporary residence permit for our Venezuelan brothers," Mr. Kuczynski said.
"You [Venezuelans] are welcome in this democratic country," he concluded.
Remarks were made during his presidential speech on the occasion of Peru's 196th Independence Day anniversary.
