Peru, Colombia to hold binational cabinet on Sep. 30

Peruvian Foreign Minister, Gonzalo Gutierrez, and his counterpart from Colombia, Maria Angela Holguin held talks on coordinated preparations for the two countries’ presidential meeting and bi-national cabinet meeting.

Following a gathering held in Lima on Thursday, the top diplomats from both neighboring nations agreed to carry out the high-level presidential summit in the commercial hub of Iquitos, in Peru’s jungle region of Loreto, on September 30.

“The meeting will allow to bolstering bilateral cooperation and identifying sectoral policies and joint projects for the benefit of the populations from both countries, particularly those living in the border areas,” Gutierrez said to an audience gathered in the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters.

The head of the Peruvian diplomacy continued, “Among the key topics to be discussed at the scheduled event include promoting bilateral integration in such sectors as economy, border security and defense.”
