Expo Cafe Peru 2014 aims to showcase the country’s specialty coffee scene and further cement its ever growing reputation as one of the best in the world, it has been reported.
The nation’s largest trade event for the coffee industry is scheduled to take place on October 17 to 19, 2014, in the Peruvian capital Lima, the country’s Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry (Minagri) said.
The three-day event will bring together leading coffee industry professionals and manufacturers of beverage related products from fourteen inner regions.
Likewise, coffee growers from the country’s main producing regions, including Junin, Cusco, Ucayali, San Martin and Cajamarca, are expected to participate at this year’s fair.
The Director-General of Agricultural Competitiveness at Minagri, Jose Muro, pointed out that currently, 425,000 yields of coffee generate a strong revenue to over 220,000 small and medium producers.
Moreover, he noted the event will propose to establish the National Coffee Institute with the goal of boosting Peruvian coffee exports
Likewise, he stressed this year’s edition seeks to increase the consumption of this crop nationwide, considering Peru's per capita coffee consumption is about 660 grams.
