Infrastructure works to reconstruct areas ravaged by Coastal El Niño phenomenon disasters will generate 150,000 jobs during its peak execution period, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala announced.
The S/23-billion (about US$7.08 billion) plan was submitted to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday and will be presented across affected regions starting Thursday.
These include six worst-hit regions and seven others with minor damage, the government official said in a press conference following a weekly Council of Ministers session.
"The idea is to lay the
Reconstruction with Changes Plan on the table for discussion and get some feedback so that it can be passed by the Council of Ministers in the first week of September," Zavala explained.
"He will also be doing this in Chiclayo and Trujillo [cities] this week, before going to other regions," the cabinet member added.
The aim is to present the infrastructure and activities to be developed over the next three years.
Likewise, De la Flor's tour will contribute to assessing which agents will be in charge of projects' execution, operation and maintenance, as well as to decide on the means for execution.
