Peru have leaped up five places to 47th and have garnered 563 points, according to the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.

Friendly wins over Qatar and Irak this month helped Pablo Bengoechea's team move up in the ranking table of the world soccer governing body.

World cup winners Germany stay at the top of the rankings despite losing to second-placed Argentina in a friendly rematch of their World Cup final this month.

Colombia climbed one place to third despite losing to Brazil, largely due to Holland’s pair of defeats that saw them drop to fourth.

Belgium stayed at fifth and Brazil climbed one spot to sixth with Uruguay, Spain, France and Switzerland rounding out the top 10.

Peru will be playing against Chile, which remain unmoved at number 10 in the FIFA rankings, on October 10, 2014
