18:24 | Chimbote (Ancash region), Nov. 23.

Up to 15,000 devotees from Chimbote's parish churches will be arriving in Trujillo (La Libertad region) in January for Pope Francis' official visit to the northern city, Monsignor Angel Francisco Simon Piorno projected Thursday.

At a press briefing, the Chimbote bishop stressed that devotees are allowed to sign up —at parish churches— to attend the mass His Holiness will lead in Huanchaco district on January 20, 2018.

However, he warned believers not to make any payments in the pursuit of a spot at the coming religious event.

Likewise, he requested Chimbote youth to join the Papal Guard. Said group aims at ensuring public order during Pope Francis' visit.

Additionally, the bishop affirmed some special priests' relics will be presented to the Supreme Pontiff, in order to get his blessing on them.

Lastly, Monsignor Piorno noted efforts are underway to allow Ancash region's "Coastal El Niño" phenomenon victims to arrive in Trujillo to see His Holiness on that occasion.

The speech

The Prelate also expressed his great expectations for the Pope's speech and seemed confident it will be a hopeful message for the entire nation.

As is known, the Supreme Pontiff will visit Peru in January 2018, and Trujillo is one of the cities listed in the schedule.
