To this end, Peruvian Attorney General Pablo Sanchez and his Chilean counterpart Sabas Chahuan have signed a cooperation agreement that will facilitate the exchange of relevant information for both countries.

Furthermore, the entity informed direct channels of communication will be established to operate in a short and reasonable amount of time.

According to the agreement, the documents to be requested include criminal record certificates, current records of criminal proceedings registered in the Peruvian and Chilean systems, as well as identity documents recorded in official registries of each country.

In the case of criminal prosecutors' offices in Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna, located in southern Peru; and regional prosecutor's offices in the Arica and Parinacota, Tarapaca, and Antofagasta regions, in northern Chile, requirements will be drawn up and sent directly to each other.

At first, the agreement will be in force for two years, and State Attorney Alonso Peña Cabrera, who heads the International Legal Cooperation and Extraditions Unit at the Public Ministry, will act as central and liaison authority for the execution of the said convention.
