La ministra de Comercio Exterior y Turismo del Perú, Magali Silva, y los ministros brasileños de Desarrollo, Industria y Comercio Exterior, Armando Monteiro, y de Relaciones Exteriores, Mauro Vieira, firmaron hoy tres instrumentos bilaterales que profundizarán las relaciones comerciales entre ambos países.
The Governments of Peru and Brazil signed today in Lima agreements on economic expansion and trade that will include the government procurement area for the first time.
The deals will contain regulations on government purchases, investments, and services, and is intended to facilitate the movement of goods and persons between the two countries, as well as to favor the establishment of companies, a source pointed out.
The initiative is embedded in a Brazilian government strategy aimed at deepening relations with countries in the Pacific Ocean basin, Prensa Latina informed.
The signing ceremony was attended by Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Magali Silva and Brazilian Ministers of Foreign Affairs as well as Development, Industry and Foreign Trade Mauro Vieira and Armando Monteiro.
In his last year visit to Peru, Monteiro launched a renewed and wider agenda of trade talks between the two South American nations, which share 2,899 Km of border.
The bilateral exchange of goods and services amounted to US$3 billion last year with a $559 million surplus in Brazil's favor.
Brazilian exports to Peru increased 14% to reach over US$410 million, while imports fell 37% to US$200 million.
