A "Peru Brand" for national coffee will reaffirm national grains' high-quality worldwide, Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Juan Manuel Benites announced.
"We must start considering a Peru Brand, which will allow us to rely on a quality seal. So, when people see Peruvian coffee, they will know it's a high-quality product [...]," Benites said.
The official noted a coffee technological fertilizer package is being improved to raise production and quality. Likewise, a sanitary certification system will be set up.
In this sense, the portfolio supported coffee-producing companies' participation in the 28th Annual Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) Expo held in Atlanta, U.S. on April 14th-17th.
Such exposition inspired coffee producers, as well as central jungle's local and regional governments to organize Peru-based "1st International Specialty Coffees Fair (Ficafe) Fair." It will take place in Satipo rainforest city on June 16-19.
It must be noted that over 223,000 families grow coffee crops in 338 Peruvian rural districts, 68 provinces and 17 regions.
