Cosmetics made from Andean products will enter 23 Asia-Pacific markets.

Among first destinations Hong Kong, China and Japan stand out, government-run program Sierra Exportadora announced.

Shipping will be possible thanks to an agreement signed by companies GB Corp (Peru) and Viss International (China) to be in charge of distributing Peruvian products in the Asian region.

Thus, production from small farmers residing in Cusco, Junin and Piura regions —who were trained by Sierra Exportadora program— will be supplied to GB Corp.

The agreement was inked at National Society of Industries (SNI) facilities.

According to GB Corp Commercial Manager Roxana Castillo, cosmetics will be dispatched under the "Qeira" brand ("Skin of gold" in Quechua language).

First, hair products (shampoo and conditioners) made from red, black and yellow quinoa will be dispatched, followed by shipments of camu camu, maca and purple corn-made bath gel. Skin care goods will be later exported.

Items are expected to enter a target market of 3 billion people, Castillo underlined.

"The most important thing is that we are using natural cosmetics, with Peruvian supplies obtained from Andean and Amazon communities [...]," she affirmed.

Thus, Peruvian raw material is provided "added-value needed" to be sold overseas.

Such achievement is also possible thanks to support from Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).

Peru is the fifth-largest natural cosmetics exporting country, whereas France leads the ranking.
