Peru and Uruguay will subscribe an agreement a Memorandum of Understanding needed to establish a joint Peace Corps Force, which will be present in the United States Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

The force will be composed of members of both countries’ Armed Forces.

Therefore, the Executive Power delegated the Peruvian Representative to the UN, Gustavo Adolfo Mesa-Cuadra, to sign an afore-referred document, according to a Supreme Resolution published on Sunday in the El Peruano official newspaper.

Peru, being one of the founding members of the UN, has played a relevant role regarding peace missions by collaborating with the UN Blue Berets troops.

In fact, the nation has appointed personnel from the Army, Navy and other Armed Forces to the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.

Considering the only and main reason of the UN is to keep peace and national security, Peru has conducted corresponding actions to reach to peaceful solutions, where needed.

The Peace Operations are a part of the Defense sector Policy.

The Peruvian Military members participate by having access to training and assessment of areas hit by violence and chaos.

After conflict, those members interact with military personnel units from other nations.
