Ancash Regional Governor Enrique Vargas Barrenechea announced the unblocking of public investment projects worth S/110 million (about US$32.2 million) in education, health and agricultural sectors.

Said regional government currently works on the ventures’ bidding processes to award the corresponding contracts, he added.

“The projects we are offering for bid have been locked for years, and their financing has been secured,” Vargas pointed out.

Over 100 projects have remained halted in Ancash since the administration of former regional governor Cesar Alvarez Aguilar, Vargas revealed.

“We’ve found a highly complicated situation in the region, which we’re trying to stabilize,” he pointed out.

To this end, Ancash authorities will meet with Congress Agriculture Commission on December 17 to discuss the region’s issues in this sector.
