Peru's Ambassador Maritza Puertas de Rodriguez presented credential letters to Portugal's President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Andean country's Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.
Said credentials recognize the designation of Rodriguez as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Inca nation to said European country.
The ceremony took place at Lisbon-based Belem Palace.
At the meeting, the diplomat expressed Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's willingness to continue strengthening bilateral relations, as well as his satisfaction with the excellent level of political-diplomatic dialogue reached between both nations.
It must be noted Peru and Portugal established diplomatic relations on March 26, 1853, following the signing of the Treaty of Commerce and Navigation.
