During the first half of 2015 (January to June), non-traditional agricultural exports totaled US$52.4 million, which led to a growth of 2.8% compared to the same term last year, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru (Mincetur) announced.
Among most demanded products mangoes stood out, which overseas sales -in the said period- registered an cumulative US$31.5 million growth
Main target markets were the Netherlands (US$17 million), followed by the U.S. (US$6 million) and the U.K. (US$5 million).
Likewise, fresh and refrigerated asparagus accumulated an additional US$21 million flow in the analyzed period. It must be noted U.S. demand was the main engine for the said expansion (US$19 million).
Evolution (non-traditional)
On the other hand, the increase in non-traditional exports to Chile was due to additional trade flows comprising products: Avocados (US$10.3 million), sulfuric acid (US$10.2 million), ceramic plates (US$6.9 million) and clinker cement (US$5.5 million).
Similarly, surge in product shipments to the U.K. is linked to larger flows of products: Avocados (US$7.4 million), fresh mangoes (US$5.2 million) and fresh asparagus (US$3.2 million).
Finally, exports to Canada also expanded due to the higher sales of raw silver, jewelry items and fresh mangoes.
