Peru: 6-magnitude quake hits Ucayali, felt in Lima

A 6-magnitude earthquake rocked the Amazon region of Ucayali in central-eastern Peru on Saturday morning.

The tremor hit at 09:57 local time (14:57 GMT) and was felt in the capital Lima, according to Peru’s Geophysical Institute (IGP).

The epicenter was 45 kilometers east of Aguatia, capital of the Ucayali province of Padre Abad, at a depth of 146 kilometers. It had an intensity of IV-V on the Modified Mercalli scale in Aguatia.

According to Civil Defense authorities, no damage or injuries have been reported so far from the quake.

It was the second quake in Peru today after a 3.9-magnitude quake hit Lima in the early morning hours.
