Some 3,000 people are expected to enjoy a relaxing and amusing New Year's holiday at beaches in Peru's northern Tumbes region, the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) said Thursday.
Carlos Zeta, Dircetur's head, said that Tumbes expects the arrival of Ecuadorian tourists attracted by its delicacies and beaches.
He told Andina news agency that many Ecuadorians are high-income tourists who look for quality comfort.
Zeta also noted that the high season has already started and some 3,000 people will visit this region late this month.
"Families make reservations before December 15 to find best prices," he added.
