A total of 17,000 people have so far been transported via the airlift mechanism implemented in Peru's emergency zones, Defense Minister Jorge Nieto stated.
This initiative will continue in zones where land-transit is still blocked.
In this sense, Nieto made a call for patience to reign among the population still seeking to move from areas recently affected by heavy rains, landslides and floods.
Likewise, the cabinet member noted said mechanism comes to an end in zones where land transit has resumed.
In addition, he highlighted the need to transport farmers' products to guarantee the supply of goods and thus prevent economic hardship.
Joined by Prime Minister Fernando Zavala, Nieto on Sunday morning delivered breakfast meals to natural disaster victims from Lima's eastern Carapongo area.
Furthermore, both authorities delivered equipment kits to Armed Forces brigade members currently deployed in the area.
Said kits included 100 shovels, 40 wheelbarrows, 50 picks and 250 pairs of gloves.
The activity also saw the presence of Armed Forces Joint Command Chief Admiral Jose Paredes Lora and Army Commander General Luis Ramos Hume.
