A member of the Andean Parliament, Alberto Adrianzen, requested the Japanese government to consider the possibility of granting parole to three Peruvian irregular immigrants that have began a hunger strike at the Nagoya Immigration Detention Center several day ago.

"Our countrymen, along with 27 illegal immigrants of different nationalities have gone on hunger strike to urge Japanese authorities to grant them karihome, a form of parole that allows them to go to the Japanese courts to apply for a special residence visa," he said.

According to Adrianzen, Peruvians have committed an administrative offense, not a criminal one and have made this desperate decision after been detained for a long period of time with no solution.

This is the case of Christian Uribe Miyashiro, 37, who by November 9, will have been at the said detention center for 9 months.

Adrianzen hailed the actions taken by the Peruvian consul in Nagoya, Claudia Miranda, who appeared sincerely concerned about the Peruvian citizens’ health and asked the Nagoya Immigration authorities about it.
