Peru's Economy and Finance Minister Alonso Segura said the four countries comprising the Pacific Alliance (Peru, Mexico, Colombia and Chile) are looking to harmonize service export processing within the bloc.
“A couple of months ago, at the proposal of Chile, we included a new working area: foreign trade promotion for services,” said Segura at the PA Business Summit in Puerto Varas, Chile.
“The idea is to review tax and customs proceedings to determine how to harmonize the service export processing in the Pacific Alliance,” he stated.
Last week, Peru’s Ministry of Finance (MEF) agreed to include seven service export operations under the Law on General Sales Tax (IGV) and Selective Consumption Tax, so that these activities can be exempted from paying IGV and are entitled to the balance left in favor of exporters.
The new headings include: Consulting services, technical assistance and advice, design services, publishing services, printing services, scientific research and technological development services, legal assistance services and audiovisual services.
Infrastructure Fund
On the other hand, he announced PA member states and multilateral bodies have prepared the guidelines for a pre-feasibility study to establish an infrastructure fund.
The Meeting also saw the participation of Finance Ministers: Rodrigo Valdes (Chile) and Mauricio Cardenas (Colombia), as well as Deputy Finance Minister Fernando Aportela (Mexico).
