Peru ported a total of 310,661 mobile telephony lines since January 2010, as mobile number portability was introduced in the country.

According to Gonzalo Ruiz, chairman of the Board of the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency of Peru (Osiptel), the number of mobile operators went from three to four in October, after Bitel’s entry into the Peruvian market.

Telecoms regulator Osiptel says a total of 21,396 mobile lines were ported from October 1 to 23.

In July, Osiptel had implemented the reduction of the mobile number portability period to one working day.

It should be noted the procedure used to take about seven working days before this resolution.
