The Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), through the National Directorate of Recreation and Promotion of Sports, conducted the first "Buscando Talentos" ("Searching for Talent") event.

Over 1,400 children from 14 IPD-Lima-bases participated in the event.

It took place at the IPD Canto Grande locality, which is located on the periphery of Lima.

There, children displayed what they learnt in the  Summer Sports Program 2015 "Deporte para Todos" (Sport for All).

The best performing athletes were selected in order to begin their training to, later, become future champions.

Attending the event were the President of the IPD, Saul Barrera Ayala; director of Affiliated Sports, Akio Tamashiro; and the director of Recreation and Promotion of Sports, Francisco Leon.

Recognized athletes of disciplines, such as: Basketball, volleyball, freestyle wrestling, rugby, chess, tennis and track and field also showed up at the event, at which they played and trained with the excited children, who were amused to see their idols.

"Buscando Talentos" is part of the second phase of the program "Deportalentos" (Sporttalents), which aims at attracting and training sport-talented youngsters joining IPD programs that develop sport practice on a large scale.
