Peruvians cannot wait to see their national team playing the 2018 World Cup.

Such feeling is reflected through the number of ticket applications they have submitted in order to secure a spot at soccer's mega-event taking place in Russia between June and July this year.

According to FIFA, 4,905,169 tickets were requested by fans around the world thru January 31 —the end of the random selection draw sales period.

Likewise, it pointed out most of the requests had come from Russia (2,503,957), whereas the international demand accounted for 49% of the total.

In this sense, the Eurasian nation was followed by Germany (338,414), Argentina (186,005), Mexico (154,611), Brazil (140,848), Poland (128,736), Spain (110,649), Peru (100,256), Colombia (87,786), the U.S. (87,052), and the Netherlands (71,096).

It must be noted the aforementioned countries made up the top ten nations seeking tickets for Russia, besides the host itself.

Record

In this sense, soccer's governing body affirmed a random-selection draw procedure will be carried out as the demand was high.

This process will be applied to all cases where the number of tickets —requested by January 31, 2018— exceeded the number of those available.

Fans will be informed of the results by mid-March 2018 at the latest.

As is known, Peru will make its appearance at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia against Denmark on June 16. Afterwards, the national team will face France (June 21). Later, it will play Australia (June 26).
