Small and medium enterprises participating in the business meeting "Norte Exporta 2015" (The North exports 2015) organized in cities: Piura and Chiclayo, reached deals worth US$64.5 million, affirmed Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva

The official said there were 523 business appointments.

This proves the Peruvian high-quality products satisfy the highest standards required by the international markets.

"In that sense, purchasers are very satisfied with the supply, which is visible in the negotiated amounts," she said.

On this edition, the event gathered 130 exporters from regions: Cajamarca, La Libertad, Tumbes, Piura and Lambayeque.

Some 50 importing enterprises’ representatives came also from: The United States, Canada, South Korea, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Slovenia, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Chile, Colombia and Trinidad and Tobago.

Peru’s Trade Offices located abroad helped to organize “Norte Exporta,” since these offices have carried out Commercial Intelligence work and also selected the international purchasers, according to the supply introduced by the Peru’s participating regions.

High-demand products were: cuttlefish, scallops and mahi-mahi (fishing sector); grapes, mangoes and bananas, in the agro-industrial sector. Others standing out were cantaloupe, watermelon, pichuberries and chia.

"We continue working the strategy for boosting the internationalization of the enterprises, mainly in regions that have a higher impact in the economic development of different localities," she specified.

In addition, she said Promperú will continue working jointly with Peru's Trade Offices in overseas, regional governments, and the private sector; organizing business meetings such as: Sur Exporta (South Exports), to be held in Tacna, Centro Exporta in Ayacucho; and Expoamazónica in Madre de Dios.

It should be noted the regions participating in the business meeting "Norte Exporta 2015" in 2014 concretized non-traditional exports worth up to US$2.8 billion.
