The American Forum of Official Gazettes (REDBOA) has been successfully concluded after two days of discussion between representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Uruguay and Peru.
The closing ceremony took place on Friday, 3 July. The talks, debate and exchange of experiences addressed important topics such as transparency in official gazettes and digital advertisement.
In addition, attendees analyzed search engines, Justice Ministry dissemination and legal systematization, and the results of the inter-institutional cooperation process involving, among others, El Peruano official gazette and Spain’s Official State Bulletin.
To Alejandro Lopez Gonzales, Deputy Director at Mexico’s Official Journal of the Federation, the Cusco meeting was quite productive, as set goals were achieved sharing experiences and practices among REDBOA nations.
“We can exchange information so that citizens from any member country can find the data they require in an official gazette,” he affirmed.
He said one of the most latent issues concerning new technologies is the digitalization process, because important newspaper archives required to be digitalized so that users have access to them through the web.
REDBOA President Maria Felisa Moreno stressed that getting rid of the printing to bring the digital world in would not be beneficiary.
However, she admitted the digitalization proposal is not unfamiliar with modern times, due to the great progress of technology.
Participants visited Machu Picchu, Inca civilization's most famous surviving archaeological site, at the end of the meeting.
