The Government Palace will remain a collection point for donations for flood and landslide victims "for as long as Peru needs us," Mrs. Nancy Lange affirmed on Friday.

President Kuczynski's wife said the major collection site has so far —as at Thursday— received 283 tons of humanitarian aid.

Mrs. Lange has been leading the reception of items at the Executive's headquarters since March 16.

"We are here [receiving donations] from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and for as long as Peru needs us," she said.

U.S.-born Lange also highlighted Peruvian citizens' "magnificent response" during the campaign, which has received contributions from 6,380 donors and over 2,000 volunteers who sort and organize relief to be sent to victims.

"The response has been magnificent. Thanks to all Peruvians who have come here," she expressed.

Likewise, Mrs. Lange expressed her appreciation to legislator Kenji Fujimori for supporting the cause.

Lastly, she urged the population to continue expressing their solidarity to disaster-stricken Peruvians.

"All Peruvians are invited to donate. It doesn't matter whether you are a religious person or not, all people are invited to do it," she concluded.

Non-perishable food supplies, personal hygiene items, as well as 3-kg plastic bags and packing tape are still needed.
