Moody's Investors Service said Wednesday Peruvian companies' 2018 prospects look brighter following disruptions of 2017.

According to the "Non-Financial Corporates - Latin America: 2018 Outlook," Latin American companies will benefit from higher but modest GDP growth.

As for Peru, the rise in public investment, stronger economic sentiment and modest rebound in private investment support the country's corporate credit quality through 2018.

Infrastructure: Peru's economic engine

Peru's economy will recover from devastating floods and stalled infrastructure projects related to spillover from Odebrecht corruption scandal in 2017.

Gradual economic recovery and the higher level of infrastructure investment will support the entire construction chain and consumer-related sectors.

Mining production up

New mining-sector investments will remain slow, but credit quality will improve amid higher prices, lower capital spending, rising production and cost reductions.

Agricultural and fishing industries will recover from severe Coastal El Niño phenomenon that caused heavy rain along the coast in early 2017, but extreme weather conditions will pose a continued threat.
