Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) will intensify its activities to expand the market of Peruvian exports overseas through its trade offices abroad and Promperu, announced Minister Magali Silva.

She said there is a whole plan for developing an important number of expansion, market consolidation and commercial promotion activities in 2015 through the aforementioned entities.

In a difficult context as the current one, she added, it is important to strengthen joint work so that Peruvian companies have a wide range of countries where to export.

Silva indicated this policy must be taken not only to deal with the international crisis, but with potential trade obstacles that other countries may impose, as was the case of Ecuador and Argentina.

“Mincetur supports the business sector to build up a large list of contacts and buyers in different parts of the world, so that products and services can be quickly relocated in this sort of circumstances and as soon as normal trade flows are restored,” said the government official.

In this sense, she cited as an example that Peru’s non-traditional exports to Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil and Panama grew by 0,6%, 5,8%, 18,8% and 12% respectively in 2014.
